This Yatra is in Kerala for the next 18 days. I’m very much sure that each state will ensure maximum participation of the Yatris: KC Venugopal

KC Venugopal – General Secretary, Congress:

Congress leaders Shri KC Venugopal and Shri Jairam Ramesh address the media:

Most of you have witnessed the last four days of Bharat Jodo. It is successful beyond our expectations. We didn’t imagine Tamil Nadu would give such a grand reception to this yatra.

It shows that this yatra is going to be the most historic yatra India has ever seen.

People from the national media are taking lot of pain and difficulties to cope up with this Yatra’s arrangements. I sincerely thank you to giving such kind of coverage.

This Yatra is in Kerala for the next 18 days. I’m very much sure that each state will ensure maximum participation of the Yatris.

This is not only a Congress Yatra. You see both sides of Yatra, it’s not only Congress but the people who believe in our ideologies; who believe that India is going through a very troubled period.

People are coming to us, waving to us, they’re showing us their support. They know that in the current scenario, the only leader who can fight against these evil forces is Shri Rahul Gandhi.

Everywhere the govt of India is spreading fear; they’re spreading anger. The forces are very much upbeat under this union govt and agencies are being used to silence the opposition.

Even the media people of this country are unsafe. They’re in jail for years and months without any major reason.

The country is being designed by the BJP in a way that there’s no need for a voice of opposition, of a democratic voice.

In the current atmosphere, we think that this is s the duty of the Indian National Congress, come what may, to raise this issue. We’re going to the people, we’re approaching the people.

We’re very happy that in the last three days, the amount of support we got from the people of this country, the people of Tamil Nadu, have given a major boost to all of us.

In the coming days, we have decided on the Yatra in such a way that in the morning, we’re not mobilising people but Rahul Gandhi and our leaders will interact with the people. Congress workers will mobilise in the afternoon.

Beyond our imagination, during morning hours also, thousands of people are there. In the evenings, it’ll be tens of thousands.

This yatra is going to create problems for parties who want to finish the Congress party. The success of this Yatra can be seen in the way they’re attacking Rahul Gandhi. Their reactions indicate that Rahul Gandhi ji is worrying them.

We’re not worried about anything. Come what may, our intentions are very clear. We intend to stop the spread of fear, and to spread love and affection.

Pleading the case of farming community, I strongly urge the GOI to review its ban on export of broken rice and to remove 20% duty on the export of non-basmati rice: Sukhbir Singh Badal

Sukhbir Singh Badal – President, Akali Dal:

Pleading the case of farming community, I strongly urge the GOI to review its ban on export of broken rice and to remove 20% duty put on the export of non-basmati rice.

Such “anti-farmer” decisions will deprive them of reaping the benefits of high export prices of food grains.

Earlier in May, when farmers needed higher prices to offset the loss in yield due to shriveled grains, GOI banned wheat export.

Instead of penalizing farmers by imposing ban on exports, govt should hike MSP & increase govt purchase & aid the food security needs of the country.

Being happy when everything is going well is no achievement. When things go wrong, in the midst of adversity, if you can smile, then you have achieved something very valuable :
