KTR, Working President, TRS :
On behalf of the Telangana Govt, I hereby once again request Hon’ble Union Finance Minister & Head of GST Council Nirmala Sitharaman Ji to immediately withdraw the plans of revising GST from 5 per cent to 12 per cent on Textiles and Handlooms sector from January 1, 2022.
The Handlooms & Textiles industry & the millions of weavers’ community has staged several protests demanding the Union Govt. to waive off GST on handloom products and its raw material over the last few weeks.
In recent times, the cost of raw materials have increased and the industry margins have drastically gone down During these difficult times, increasing taxation will create adverse situation and may lead to the closing of thousands of textile units across the nation.
Instead of waiving off the 5% GST on handloom products and its raw material and coming to the rescue of the weavers, the Union Govt is planning to increase it to 12% from 01/01/2022, which will sound a death knell to the industry and lakhs of people will lose their jobs.
The Textile & handloom sector provides the second highest employment in our country. This sector is already bearing the brunt of COVID Considering the current scenario, the need of the hour is to extend additional advantages and incentives to the sector. Not tax it further!
Farmers have already come on to the streets & forced a rollback of ill-conceived farm laws I urge GoI to immediately withdraw the decision the proposed increase in GST Or else weavers of this country will repeat what their farmer brethren have done & we will stand by them.
DK Shivakumar, President- Karnataka Congress :
Election results in recent times have indicated a Congress wave in the state and the urban local body election results vouch for it.
Without doubt, Congress will win 2023 assembly elections and I thank our voters for their overwhelming support that has stirred our enthusiasm.
While urban local body election results cannot be a yardstick for future elections, these results confirm the popularity of Congress ideology and of our people who believe in it.
They have upset BJP’s calculation that it could win through money. Pro-people ideology has won.

Amit Malviya, BJP National Info & Tech Dept., Co-incharge West Bengal :
Who says there aren’t alternatives? Yes, there are alternatives. Not just one but many alternatives. It just depends on what one seeks from a political alternative.
There is an alternative available for issuing brazen threats to police personnel of vindictive action if the incumbent party in the state loses an election
There is an alternative if curbing media freedom through quid pro quo exchanges with journalists – positive stories in lieu of government ads, are required.
There are alternatives available if one is looking for alternative strategies for winning elections like suppressing political opponents through brutalities and violence against their local workers.
There are numerous alternatives if undue favours are being sought from the government for getting contracts and public resources. From canceling fair practices like auctions to granting contracts in lieu of kickbacks, these alternatives hold rich experience.
There are alternatives available if India’s rich civilizational and cultural history is perceived as unnecessary baggage which is irrelevant in modern times
There are alternatives available if we prefer sluggish public service delivery and enough leakages to ensure thriving local level corruption
There are alternatives available if we prefer stagnation in infrastructure development over massive transformation.
There are alternatives available if we want governments incapable of providing a commensurate response in case of national security challenges and upholding national interests.
There are numerous alternatives available if marginalized groups are merely “vote banks” and don’t require state assistance for empowerment. Of course there are alternatives. Just that India has rejected them.
